Project: Rail Turntable for Tianjin Metso
Diameter: 5.3-meter
Load Capability: 60 tons
Location: Tianjin China
Finished year: 2008
In 2008, Shenyang Weizhong Revolving Machinery engineered two 5.3-meter-diameter rail turntablesfor Tianjin Metso’s painting workshop, addressing critical challenges in handling large industrial components. Designed to streamline the transport of heavy parts into paint chambers, these turntables supported a 60-ton load capacity, enabling the rotation of rail carts loaded with massive equipment.
The system’s core challenge lay in achieving alignment precision within 0.5 mm to ensure seamless integration between the turntable’s rails and the workshop’s fixed tracks. Shenyang Weizhong’s Pin-Gear drive technology delivered robust performance, combining high torque with precise angular control. The turntables’ reinforced steel structure, paired with custom-engineered bearings, ensured stability under extreme loads, while corrosion-resistant coatings extended durability in the humid, chemical-rich painting environment.
Operators utilized programmable controls to preset rotation angles, allowing carts to align automatically with entry points, eliminating manual adjustments and reducing downtime. Rigorous factory testing involved simulating 60-ton loads and alignment accuracy, confirming the system’s reliability under real-world conditions.
This project underscored Shenyang Weizhong’s expertise in merging heavy-duty engineering with precision mechanics. By solving Metso’s logistical bottlenecks, the turntables enhanced workflow efficiency and safety, demonstrating how tailored rotary solutions can transform industrial operations. The success reinforced the company’s reputation as a leader in custom turntables for niche applications—where power, precision, and durability intersect to drive productivity.
